Physical Properties

Important Information

Moisture:
The properties of polyurethane make it an excellent water resistant product that is not susceptible to rot. It does not support mold, fungus and has no nutritional value for insects and vermin.

Density:
Classic Designs products are made with high density polyurethane which is similar to pine at 16 - 18 pounds per cubic foot. The polyurethane process ensures surface density that is greater than the core for increased durability.

Strength:
The compressive and tensile strength of polyurethane is not sufficient to be used as a structural product. Polyurethane installed on uneven surfaces will flex and tend to follow curvatures of substrate. Proper shimming and leveling is recommended.

Surface Finishes:
Classic Designs produces all products with a surface barrier and coat primer and one additional coat of white exterior latex paint. This process ensures excellent adherence for additional finishes.

Ultraviolet:
Care should be taken to ensure that all surfaces exposed to ultraviolet rays are properly coated with paint.
